DatingDirect.com claims to be the UK’s biggest dedicated dating site, with a whooping 3.5 million ACTIVE members. Hold on a second, that’s almost 5% of the entire UK population! Something can’t be right. They must mean 3.5 million members worldwide. Either way, DatingDirect is one of the major players in the UK dating market. Having been online since 1999, it’s easy to see how they’ve accumulated such a strong following.
Why Is DatingDirect Different?
DatingDirect is different in the sense that it’s a very established service (online since 1999), that caters mainly for the UK crowd. It calls itself the largest dedicated dating service in the UK, and with that comes an enormous amount of profiles.
We are not going to sit here verifying the 3.5 million active members claim. It’s tough to say exactly how many of those members are active. DatingDirect doesn’t have the strongest of “reply to deleted” ratios if you’re a guy. But at the same time we’ve heard a few real-life stories of couples making the jump from DatingDirect to weddings and bliss, including some featured in national press.
Join If…
You’re in the UK and enjoy having a large variety of profiles to browse through. DatingDirect has a ton of users in the database, as you’d expect considering it’s rich history dating back to 1999. The interface is very slick, definitely one of the best we’ve seen in the industry.
Don’t Join If…
You get easily annoyed at seeing your messages going ignored. There can be such a thing as too many members, and DatingDirect may push that theory to the limit for some users. Quite a few profiles are old, and some women have reported a lot of “window shopping” men who aren’t particularly interested in a relationship. In our opinion? Welcome to online dating, we hope you enjoy your stay.

DatingDirect is a huge UK juggernaut of a dating site. It brings together a wide array of profiles, leaving both women and men spoiled for choice in their decisions over who to message. At the same time, it isn’t the friendliest of communities and the sheer scale of the place does mean that you’ll find a few more rotten apples in the basket.
Also, be sure to stay on top of your subscription package. If you wish to cancel a paid membership, you will need to phone the customer service team. That’s not cool, guys. Not cool at all.
